Olivia Rubens is a womenswear knitwear designer specializing in sustainable sourcing, production, and design. She was selected for the fashion contest of ITS 2020 with her collection "Duplicitous Lives".
Olivia explores what it means to be a woman, forced to construct herself to become who she is or who she thinks she is. It questions women’s ‘true’ selves, sameness, and their perception of others, and humorously points towards the masks they wear to conceal their identities. She references Cindy Sherman, Juno Calypso, Nadia Lee Cohen, Laurie Simmons, and Martin Parr, to name a few, and created her own Cindy Sherman style photo shoot, turning her performance into the outfits of her collection. Through sustainable knitwear design as well as social justice initiatives, Olivia stands for embracing our differences, and battling the injustices of bullying and prejudice.
International Talent Support was launched in 2002 and throughout its history it has developed into the most highly recognized platform to showcase & support the strongest young talents on the planet. Most importantly, it created an ever-growing family supporting creativity, like branches on a tree growing in different directions, yet nurtured by the same roots. It has built an impressive Creative Archive, a unique collection tracing the history of fashion evolution. Many of the over 630 finalists were selected by top fashion brands where they now hold key positions, or have successfully developed their own lines.
