Andrew is looking at possible alternative paths in design. Most importantly, he is challenging the techniques and the tools that have been producing more or less the same shapes and silhouettes for way too long now.
He was selected for the fashion contest of ITS 2020 with his collection "Future Tailoring".
The Future Tailoring aesthetic developed by Andrew is defined by the integration of traditional tailoring techniques with sonic welding and taping technologies. Drawing inspiration from single-use products such as the collapsible Hoover bag, his work finds beauty in the banal, in a dialogue that considers material values and consumer behaviour in an era of disposability. Cut from side-profile, his outerwear pieces offer cross-sections of a future facing an aesthetic that is structured, lightweight and razor-sharp. Through the removal of the canvas, pad-stitching and interlinings, the designer not only challenges the traditional frameworks of tailoring, but also the material hierarchies that bind our ideals of ‘luxury’ within fashion.
International Talent Support was launched in 2002 and throughout its history it has developed into the most highly recognized platform to showcase & support the strongest young talents on the planet. Most importantly, it created an ever-growing family supporting creativity, like branches on a tree growing in different directions, yet nurtured by the same roots. It has built an impressive Creative Archive, a unique collection tracing the history of fashion evolution. Many of the over 630 finalists were selected by top fashion brands where they now hold key positions, or have successfully developed their own lines.
